The majority of my career has been spent in marketing, so adoption of new tech is second nature—from Google to the start of social media, all of these have meant adapting and training others. I have a range of marketing qualifications, including a Postgraduate Diploma, and gained Chartered Marketer status in 2009.
Marketing has remained a central part of my roles, which have broadened at Director level. My focus has been on training, business development, product development, marketing, and strategy—winning major new contracts for businesses and bringing in new product offerings
My career has been focused on roles with a purpose—often working with or for small businesses. This has included time in central Government, accessing European funding, supporting different sectors with sales or skills requirements, and time with big corporates. This gives me real breadth to bring to any business.
The potential to use AI to transform productivity and profitability has been clear in recent roles—but there always seem to be other priorities. Starting Dandelion Applied AI means I have the time to focus on the latest developments and help other small businesses take advantage. A first step was gaining a professional qualification with the IGM Applied AI Professional Certificate (now AI Developer). My skills are in using AI tools, not programming.
Based in rural Warwickshire, I really enjoy village life and being out in the countryside walking or on horseback. Otherwise, I'm a big fan of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, a meal at a nice pub, and travelling (well, holidays nowadays).
